Parliamentary Hearings on Lake Sevan Problems

On September 28, the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment organized parliamentary hearings on the theme Lake Sevan Problems. The RA NA deputies, members of the government, representatives of the responsible departments, the NGOs and experts took part in the hearings.

The RA Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan made a report Lake Sevan Problems and Their Solutions.

In their speeches the Chairman on Lake Sevan Ecosystem Preservation Yuri Javadyan, the Chairperson of the Association For Sustainable Human Development Karine Danielyan, the Dean of YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology Marat Grigoryan, the Deputy Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Araik Hovhannisyan, the Chairperson of the Water Committee of the RA Ministry of Energy Sub-Structures and Natural Resources Inessa Gabayan, the RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Gevorgyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Agriculture Garnik Petrosyan and other invitees touched upon the problems of Lake Sevan.

Summing up the hearings, the Committee Chair Vardevan Grigoryan thanked the participants for the concerned discussion and assessed it effective. He emphasized the rise of the level and the reasonable use of water resources for the solution of Lake Sevan numerous problems. The Committee Chair highlighted the implementation of the parliamentary oversight functions in this very sensitive issue for the public and the further discussions of the problem.
